Vertical Air Classifier
Vertical air classifier is an advanced powder classifying machine. It can achieve precise and consistent particle size control with low energy consumption.
It is widely used in quartz, feldspar, and alumina powder grinding.
If your grinding mill can produce fine powder, but you can not control the final particle size well, an air classifier is essential.
Daswell Powder vertical air classifier is mainly used for the efficient classification of mineral powders after grinding. This machine is especially suitable for quartz, feldspar, alumina, and some other mineral powders.
It features a large-diameter single classification wheel. This provides high processing capacity and stable classification performance. Compared with advanced multi-rotor turbo classifiers, its relatively simple structure helps reduce equipment investment with reliable classification efficiency.
Do You Need A Vertical Air Classifier After Grinding?
During grinding, the materials usually contain particles with different sizes. Thus, even if most of the powder reaches the target fineness, some coarse particles may remain. If these coarse particles are not separated, they will affect the particle size distribution and the performance of the final powder. With our air classification equipment, it can solve this problems.

How Does the Vertical Air Classifier Work for Powder Classifying?
It mainly utilizes airflow drag and centrifugal force to separate ground fine powders.
After grinding, the powder enters the classification chamber together with the conveying air. Under the action of the airflow, the powder particles are dispersed and carried upward toward the classification wheel.
The classifications wheel rotates at a controlled speed. It generates a centrifugal force that works against the upward airflow. The qualified fine particles can pass the classification wheel with the airflow. Then they enters the fine powder collection system. While the coarse particles, which can not overcome the centrifugal force, are rejected by the classification wheel and fall back into the the lower part of the classifier. They will returned to the grinding mill for regrinding until the particle size is qualified.
For your different particle size requirements, you can adjust the operating conditions for controlling the finished particle sizes. Both the classification wheel speed and airflow volume are adjustable for controlling the cut size and final fineness according to your production requirements.
Where Can You Use the Vertical Air Classifier?
The vertical classifier is applicable for classifying 15–45 μm mineral powders. It is not only a standalone classification machine. It plays an important role as a particle size control system in complete mineral powder production lines.

Quartz Powder Grinding
In a quartz powder grinding line, the vertical classifier can be installed after the grinding mill machine.
The grinding mill reduces the quartz to the required size. And the classifier separates the ground material into qualified and unqualified particles.
For the applications, which require 15-45 μm quartz powders, the vertical classification machine provides an economical solution for high-capacity production.
Then the qualified quartz can be collected by the cyclone collector or pulse dust collector for packing.

Feldspar Powder Grinding
Feldspar powder is widely used as an important raw material in ceramics, glass, and other industrial applications. After grinding, the accurate classification is key for obtaining a controlled particle size distribution.
The vertical classifier separates oversized feldspar particles from unqualified powder. It helps maintain consistent product fineness and improve the stability of downstream applications.

Alumina Powder Classification
For alumina powder grinding, particle size control is important. The powder fineness and particle size distribution can affect both the processing and application performance.
Integrated with our grinding system, the vertical air classifying machine can separate particles according to the powder size with excellent particle size control.

Integrated Powder Grinding and Vertical Classifying Line
Generally, the complete powder grinding line for quartz, feldspar, and alumina powder processing is feeding → crushing → grinding → vertical air classifying → coating(optional) → dust collection → packing.
In a closed-circuit grinding system, coarse particles separated by the classifier can be returned to the grinding mill for further processing. This achieves continuous grinding and classification, reduces over-grinding, and improves overall production efficiency.
Thus, the vertical air classifier acts as a key link between grinding and final powder collection. It ensures that only the particles within that required size range are delivered as finished products.
Advantages of Daswell Powder Vertical Air Classifier
High Classification Capacity
The large single classification wheel provides a large effective classification area and high processing capacity. This makes the vertical turbo classifier suitable for large-scale quartz, feldspar, and alumina powder processing.
Suitable for 15–45 μm Powder Classification
This classifying machine is particularly suitable for classifying medium and coarse mineral powders in the 15–45 μm range. At this particle size range, the quartz powder has wide applications.
Lower Investment Cost
Compared with the multi-rotor turbo classifier machine, this single-wheel vertical air classifier has a relatively simple structure and lower equipment investment. For your powder processing, which doesn’t require ultra-fine classification, it is a cost-effective solution.
Energy Efficient Operation
The optimized classification system helps reduce unnecessary recirculation and overgrinding. This efficient operation lowers energy consumption and help reduce overall production costs.

Easy Integration with Grinding Lines
This vertical classification system can be combined with ball mills to create a closed-circuit grinding and classification system. It can also be connected with cyclone collector, pulse dust collectors, and automatic packing systems. They form a complete powder processing plant.
For applications that require 15–45 μm quartz, feldspar, or alumina powder, this vertical air classifier is an ideal choice. It offers a practical balance between classification performance, capacity, investment cost, and energy consumption. Especially, if you want to produce cost-effective powders with high production capacity rather than ultra-fine classification, this classification system is suitable for you.
