Agrochemical Production Line

Daswell Powder Tech. offers customized processing lines for your agrochemical formulation production.

For both your wet liquid formulation and dry powder production, we provide different grinding lines based on formulation type, target particle size, and production capacity.

When planning agrochemical production, it is key for you to choose a suitable agrochemical production line. Daswell Powder offers you both dry and wet processing methods. They utilize different grinding mills for producing agrochemical formulations with consistent particle size. These solutions are applicable for producing herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides, including chlorothalonil-based products. According to your formulation and production requirements, we can customize agrochemical production lines.

Grinding is an essential step in agrochemical manufacturing. The particle size and uniformity affect agrochemical formulation performance during storage, dilution, and application. For example, in suspension concentrate (SC) and oil dispersion (OD) products, the active ingredients are dispersed in liquid pesticide formulations. If the particles are not sufficiently reduced or dispersed, the formulation may have difficulty meeting its target particle size distribution and stability requirements.

  • Improve Formulation Performance: Fine and uniform particles can improve dispersion of active ingredients. In suitable formulations, appropriate particle size can improve contact with target surfaces and support consistent pesticide performance.
  • Enhance Physical Stability: For SC formulation production, appropriate particle size helps reduce settling and supports stability during storage and dilution.
  • Ensure Consistent Application: For pesticide manufacturing, uniform particle size distribution helps prevent spray nozzle clogging and supports more uniform pesticide distribution across crops.
  • Optimize Production Costs: Efficient grinding can improve active ingredient utilization and formulation performance. This may help agrochemical manufacturers optimize formulation costs while meeting performance requirements.
  • Support Environmental and Operational Safety: Consistent particle size and effective application can help reduce product waste and unnecessary pesticide use.

What Is the Agrochemical Production Process?

In agrochemical manufacturing, there are wet and dry processing methods for you to choose. They are often used for different formulation production. The appropriate processing route mainly depends on the formulation type, target particle size, and required production capacity.

The main differences between these two processing technologies are grinding methods. The finished products manufactured by wet-type agrochemical processing lines are slurries. The dry grinding line produces dry powders. You can utilize it as a pre-processing line for granule production.

Wet Processing Line for Liquid Pesticide Formulations

Our wet processing line is suitable for producing SC and OD pesticide formulations. This process grinds and disperses the solid ingredients in a liquid medium. It ensures the solid active ingredient is distributed well throughout the liquid formulation. We mainly use bead mills as the core grinding mill.

Pesticide Wet Processing Line

A typical wet processing line for pesticide suspension concentrates is: Ingredient Preparation and Premixing → Intermediate Tank → Bead Milling → Formulation and Blending → Finished Product Tank

  • Ingredient Preparation and Premixing: According to your SC formulation, add the active ingredients, liquid, dispersants, wetting agents, and other formulation additives into the premixing tank. The high-shear disperser wets and disperses the solid particles before grinding. Then the premixed slurry is transferred to an intermediate tank. It is mainly used for temporary storage and ensures stable feeding to the bead mill machine.
  • Bead Milling: The slurry passes through the bead mill to reduce particle size and achieve the required particle size distribution.
  • Formulation and Blending: The ground slurry enters a formulation tank. The additional ingredients, water, and formulation aids are added as required. After mixing and formulation adjustments, the SC formulation can be transferred to the finished product tank for quality testing and filling.

Based on your specific product requirements, we customize a processing line tailored to your production needs. From process flow design and bead mill rotor configuration to equipment materials and grinding media selection, every solution is engineered to deliver the required performance, quality, and production efficiency.

Dry Processing Line for WP and WDG

A dry processing line for pesticide powders mainly focuses on grinding and powder handling. For WDG production, it needs additional granulation and downstream processing equipment.

The dry grinding process turns solid pesticide ingredients into fine powder without grinding media. Most of our customers choose the air jet mill machine for grinding. It uses high-velocity compressed air to drive particle-to-particle collisions. The integrated classification system separates particles according to size. The adiabatic expansion of compressed gas at the nozzles produces a cooling effect. This helps prevent thermal degradation, melting, or agglomeration of heat-sensitive pesticide active ingredients.

Pesticide Dry Grinding Process with Air Jet Mill Machine

A typical dry grinding line for pesticide powders is: Raw Material Premixing → Air Jet Milling → Collection → Post-Blending → Quality Testing and Packaging

  • Raw Material Premixing: Feeding the solid active ingredients and other compatible powder ingredients into the mixer for premixing according to the formulation.
  • Air Jet Milling: The premixed material enters the air jet mill. High-velocity compressed air drives particle-to-particle collisions to achieve the target fineness. The integrated classification system separates qualified fine particles from coarser particles. And the unqualified particles are returned for further grinding.
  • Collection: The ground powder is separated from the conveying air through a cyclone separator and a pulse-jet bag filter. The cyclone collects a portion of the powder, while the pulse-jet dust collector captures finer particles and helps reduce dust emissions.
  • Post-Blending: The collected powder is transferred to a mixer for final blending. You can add other formulation ingredients as required. This improves formulation uniformity. Then you can test and pack the finished powder for the next processing stage, such as a WDG granulating line.

This dry air jet mill grinding line is mainly used for producing WP. For your pesticide granule manufacturing, there are also mixing, granulating, drying, sieving, and packing equipment for you to choose. The specific configuration depends on the formulation and production process. Contact us to discuss your requirements.

What Should Be Considered in Agrochemical Production Plant Design?

When you establish an agrochemical production plant, there are several factors you should consider first. You had better evaluate the formulation, production targets, and the operating environment. These factors determine the grinding technology, equipment configuration, and overall production line design.

Identify the Agrochemical Formulation Type

Slurry

Powder

Granule

Determining the intended product is the first step.

Different formulation types require different grinding technologies.

  • For suspension concentrates, our wet grinding system with premixing, dispersion, and bead milling will be suitable. It reduces solid particles to the required fineness and disperses them in a liquid formulation.
  • For your dry powders, the dry jet milling line will be an appropriate choice. It can produce fine powders for subsequent formulation and blending.
  • For your granulated products production, you may need additional granulation, drying, and related equipment.

Evaluate Raw Material Properties

Heat-Sensitive

Oxidation-Sensitive

Exposive Ingredients

The active ingredient and other solid materials influence the choice of grinding technology.

Different hardness, abrasiveness, moisture content, heat sensitivity, corrosiveness, and flowability affect the grinding technology selection and system design.

  • For heat-sensitive ingredients, jet mills use expanding compressed gas to help limit temperature rise, while bead mills can use cooling jackets to control grinding temperature.
  • For oxidation-sensitive or explosive ingredients, the air jet mill can be configured with a nitrogen closed-loop system to keep the system inert.

According to your material properties, our engineers can configure a grinding line that meets your product quality standards and operating conditions.

Define the Target Particle Size and Capacity

D50

D90

D97

Target fineness and required output are two key factors in grinding line design.

  • For SC formulation submicron grinding requirements, bead milling is the preferred approach. For example, our disc bead mill grinding line can achieve D90 3μm for chlorothalonil suspension concentrates.
  • For large-scale, continuous dry powder production, continuous jet milling is suitable. And for the small batches, we also provide batch jet milling line for you.

If you are planning a new agrochemical formulation plant or upgrading an existing production line, Daswell Powder can work with you to evaluate the processing route and equipment configuration based on your production requirements.
